Despite the failure last year of “one size fits all” COVID mitigation policies, Governor JB Pritzker has issued a statewide mask mandate for K-12 students heading back to both public and private schools in the coming weeks. This unilateral decree supersedes the decisions being made at the local level, and silences the voices of students, parents, educators and administrators. As your State Representative, I want to hear from you. Your voice and your input on state issues matters—especially when it comes to the health and wellbeing of our children.
After living through a global pandemic for the last 18 months, we are still very much all in this together. Our goal remains the same: stop the spread of COVID-19. In order to do that efficiently and effectively, all parties need to be at the table, not stuck under unilateral authority.
