A Few Wins
On our third reading deadline last week bills sponsored by House Democrats far, far outnumbered Republican bills that were allowed to progress to the floor for consideration. It was no surprise.
Bills passed the House Week of 4/15 – Total 324 / Democrat 291 – Republican 33 – 10.2%
However, we were still able to secure some hard-fought wins for our families, including:
- Human Trafficking Initiatives passed by Rep. Keicher and Rep. LaHa (part of caucus bill package).
- New legislation to address teacher shortage and protect children.
- Protecting children with bills passed on school safety and for in person DCFS trainings.
- And, a much needed bill that will create stiffer penalties for individuals (including protesters) who block a public highway.
We will not be in session in Springfield this week, but next week we will return for the homestretch of the spring session.

Around the Capitol
Gun owners from across the state joined us in Springfield to raise their voices for the protection of Second Amendment rights. I was proud to stand with these dedicated individuals today in the Capitol as we work together to uphold this most important Constitutional right. Thank you, Illinois Rifle Association.
We also had an amazing crowd at the Capitol last week for the annual March for Life. I will always support the protection of ALL lives.
We had visitors from Community Colleges across the state joining us in Springfield I had the privilege of meeting and talking with John Wood Community College (JWCC) Freshman Mariah Eggleston. She’s a future leader!
