Frese: Governor Failed to Lead on Addressing Deadly Veteran’s Home Covid Outbreak

An Auditor General’s report on the Pritzker administration’s response to the COVID outbreak at the LaSalle Veterans Home that claimed 36 lives concludes that the administration utterly failed to “identify and respond to the seriousness of the outbreak.

”The audit findings confirmed what we feared from the beginning. The Governor did not lead, he obfuscated. The Governor did not direct IDPH to become more involved. The Governor even went so far as to blame Republicans for the outbreak,” Rep. Frese said. “This deadly outbreak did not have to happen. The warnings were issued. Recommendations were made, but not followed.” Watch more of Rep. Frese’s response to the audit findings here.
